Dr Dennis Desmond 
Lecturer for Cyber Intelligence, Sunshine Coast University and former US Army and FBI Special Agent

Dr Dennis Desmond serves as a lecturer in cyber intelligence, cyber security and cryptography at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Dennis’ PhD dissertation -  Cryptolaundering: Optimising Cryptocurrency Laundering Interventions, focused on the growing use of cryptocurrencies to launder illicit proceeds stemming from online fraud and cybercrime. Dennis has also conducted extensive research into darknet marketplace interventions.

Previously, Dennis served in the US Army as a counterintelligence special agent with multiple combat deployments to the Middle East. Dennis also served as an FBI Special Agent assigned to the National Computer Crime Squad in Washington, DC, assigned to national security issues. Prior to coming to Australia, Dennis served as a human intelligence support officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency, most recently assigned to the US Special Operations Command as a Chief Identity Scientist.
