Lisa joined the International Development team in November 2022. She has been working alongside diverse communities and not-for-profit organisations across Australia, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the United States to collaborate on projects in disaster resilience, social connection, children’s education, women’s rights, as well as other community-led projects. Most recently, Lisa has been working in the community development sector as an engagement and capacity-building officer.
Lisa studied international relations at Deakin University, before tackling her Honours degree, during which, she undertook a decolonial critique of anti-terrorist laws that are used as a continuation of colonial violence in Latin America. Lisa has a keen interest in the role of intersectionality in international aid policies and wants to see Australia develop genuine partnerships with our neighbours, based on mutual trust, respect, and reliability. Lisa looks forward to being able to contribute to UQ’s goal of increased global connectedness.
