The Australia–ASEAN Council (AAC) seeks to strengthen the Australia-ASEAN relationship in ways that enhance mutual understanding and people-to-people, institutional and business connections.

Grant objectives:

  • To strengthen bilateral and multilateral relationships in areas of mutual interest with particular countries and regions
  • Establish international networks, collaboration and connections between institutions and communities to build understanding, trust and influence
  • Enhance Australian international reputation and reach through the promotion of our economic, creative and cultural, sporting, innovation and science and education assets
  • Increase understanding by Australians of the cultures and opportunities in Southeast Asian countries

Key priority areas of the grant:

  • Cross-cultural collaborations
  • Economic, education and scientific cooperation and innovation
  • Climate resilience (climate change, clean energy transition and green economy)
  • Regional international relations

Grant Overview

Funding
The estimated grant value is from $15,000 to $50,000 with a grant period of one year, extendable upon approval by the AAC.

Overheads
Indirect costs/overheads are not funded by this scheme.

Salaries
Salaries are not funded by this scheme

How Global Partnerships can assist
The Global Strategy and Partnerships (GSP) team welcomes enquiries to identify potential partners part of ASEAN. The team also provides the Global Strategy Framework and Partner Engagement Strategy which may be useful in your application. Although not required for your grant application, where requested, GSP can offer a general review on language and UQ-specific information and/or a letter of support upon receipt of a completed application coversheet and letter template ten calendar days before the application closes.
