International sponsored students

The University of Queensland (UQ) is a diverse and welcoming environment to study and make new friends. At UQ there are over 20,000 international students who come from 120+ different countries.

UQ is a wonderful place to study, has great services and student supports available, offers countless social activities with 100+ UQ clubs and societies to choose from, and has unique offerings including entrepreneurship programs by UQ Ventures.

Sponsors

UQ is proud to host sponsored students from across the globe. From Australia Awards and overseas government sponsor bodies to a range of smaller scale sponsorships.

Each sponsor will differ in their own unique offerings including tuition fees, living stipends and study supports. UQ also have our own standard set of offerings and requirements.

These include:

  • Living stipend - UQ refers to the UQ RTP rate in accordance with the Australian Federal Government requirements.
  • Fees - UQ requires payment for Student and Services Amenities Fee (SSAF) and for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) in addition to tuition fee payments,
  • Overall payment - UQ is here to support you and the sponsor, and is flexible to help create payment plans. However, it is important to note that, despite the best efforts from UQ to accommodate, if the sponsor fails to make payments, as per the UQ policy 3.40.01 on Student Fees, the responsibility will be transferred to the student.

International scholarships

In addition to sponsors, UQ receives many international students on scholarships such as Fulbright, Rotary, and Rise. UQ also have a number of international scholarships, such as High Achiever, Refugee & Humanitarian, and the Excellence scholarship.
