The Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII) seeks to strengthen the Australia-Indonesia relationship in ways that enhance mutual understanding and people-to-people links.

The objectives of the Australia-Indonesia Institute 2023 grant program are:

  • To increase public awareness of Australia in Indonesia, and of Indonesia in Australia, and the importance of the bilateral relationship
  • To develop partnerships in areas of shared interest in the bilateral, regional and global context
  • To increase Australians’ capacity to effectively engage with Indonesia.

Key priority areas of the Australia-Indonesia Institute 2023 grant program are: 

  • Language and Indonesian Studies
  • Media, Arts and Culture
  • Health, Science, and Technology
  • Economic and Business Engagement
  • Sport

Global Partnerships provides Global Strategy Framework and Partner Engagement Strategy. The Global Strategy and Partnerships (GSP) team welcome inquiries to identify potential partners in China.

Funding

The estimated grant value is from $15,000 to $50,000 with a maximum grant period of one year.

Overheads

Indirect costs/overheads are not funded by this scheme. Please consult your Finance Officer/Research Development Officer/Research Partnerships Manager for advice on overheads.

Salaries

Salaries are not funded by this scheme
 

How to Apply

Step 1: Completing the application

Visit the funding opportunity SharePoint page for more information and UQ forms to complete.

Step 2:

The grant guidelines are available from the DFAT website. All applications must be submitted by the applicant electronically using the SmartyGrants application form.

Although not required for the AII, upon request, GSP will provide a letter of support after the applicant submits the filled template and application cover sheet. Please allow five working days for the GSP team to process the letter of support. Please visit the funding opportunity SharePoint page to download the templates.

Step 3: GSP internal review and feedback 

For GSP to conduct a general review on language and university-specific details, please email your application with a signed cover sheet to the GSP team by 16 October 2023 – late submissions will not be accepted.
