The Council for Australian–Arab Relations (CAAR) seeks to strengthen the Australian-Arabian relationship in ways that enhance mutual understanding and people-to-people links.

Grant objectives

  • ensure that the CAAR grant program aligns with the Australian Government's regional priorities, and CAAR's Strategic Framework 2022-24.
  • ensure an effective and engaging program of CAAR projects; and
  • pursue innovative public diplomacy and social media opportunities, to promote the CAAR and highlight the value of Australian-Arab relations.

  • Health and Sport (includes inclusivity)
  • Social Cohesion & Gender Equality (includes diversity and diaspora engagement) 
  • Arts and Culture (includes First Nations culture and businesses)

Funding

The estimated grant value is from $20,000 to $60,000 with a maximum grant period of one year.

Overheads

Indirect costs/overheads are not funded by this scheme. This scheme is listed as a 0% indirect cost rate on the UQ Indirect Costs Variation Register.

Salaries

Salaries are not funded by this scheme.

The Global Strategy and Partnerships (GSP) team welcomes enquiries to identify potential partners in Arabia. The team also provides the Global Strategy Framework and Partner Engagement Strategy which may be useful in your application. Where requested, GSP can offer a letter of support upon receipt of a completed application coversheet and letter template 10 calendar days before the application closes.
