Daniel Esteban Nieto Martinez

Daniel Nieto is an engineer who develops key energy projects supporting the energy transition in Australia and around the world. He manages complex projects and field operations and is always on the lookout for ways to apply new technologies and innovative solutions, thriving on multidisciplinary collaboration.

In all his work, Daniel prioritises effective social engagement with stakeholders to achieve the success of projects. He has worked with communities in Australia and Colombia to understand the energy industry's impacts and facilitates the involvement of local communities in his projects’ development.

In 2016, Daniel relocated to Australia from Colombia and completed a Master of Sustainable Energy Management at The University of Queensland (UQ). After graduating with an excellent academic record and multiple scholarships, he worked for the Centre for Natural Gas at UQ as a research assistant and joined Arche Energy in early 2021.

Recently Daniel has been providing project engineering and design management for gas turbine and BESS projects, and he has also completed several studies on industry decarbonisation strategies. He is motivated by the belief that innovation, engagement with stakeholders, and developing low-carbon technologies are crucial to mitigating and adapting to climate change. 

Daniel is also a leader in the Latin American community in Australia and is the current president of the Australian Latin America Young Professionals (ALAYP) a non-profit organisation focused on fostering growth and connection and creating opportunities for Latin American young professionals in Australia. He is also a committee member of the Sustainable Engineering Society of Engineers Australia (SENG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers QLD (SPE QLD).
