The UQ-VISTI Innovation Centre project, a collaboration between UQ Ventures and the Vietnam Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation, reflects this shared passion for harnessing innovation to create a better future.

Collaboration in action
- Nine collaborative projects have been approved for $85,384 in funding in the 2020 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme.
- War. Secret escapes. Stranded at sea. Pirates and eye patches. It’s a story of survival almost too wild to believe, and it’s inspiring a UQ student to want to change the lives of vision-impaired people.
- With the immense environmental challenges the world faces, our ability to adapt is vital. An international research team led by Dr Pedro Fidelman engaged with stakeholders involved with the co-management of coastal resources in Cambodia and Vietnam with the aim of understanding the conditions that enable adaptive capacity.
- Four University of Queensland undergraduate students are set to pursue their dreams after being named as 2020 New Colombo Plan (NCP) scholars.
- University of Queensland researchers have partnered with institutes in Kenya, Indonesia and Vietnam to investigate the prevalence of mental disorders in adolescents.
- UQ’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences offer four week, interprofessional, intercultural placement (IPIC) opportunities in Vietnam and Timor-Leste to final year occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech pathology students.

Alumni
UQ has 1,385 alumni living in Vietnam and is a corporate member of AusCham Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which enables professional development and networking opportunities. Alumni with significant links to Vietnam include:
