Eleven collaborative research projects have been approved for $73,425 in funding in the second round of the 2018 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme.
A total of 28 eligible applications were received for this round amounting to more than $220,000 in requested funding.

- Queensland Cerebral Palsy and Rehabilitation Research Centre – Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur: Implementing early detection and early intervention for infants with cerebral palsy symposium for health professionals in low- and middle-income countries (India and the SAARC countries).
- Institute for Molecular Bioscience – Technology and Innovation Consult GmbH (Germany): German-Australian industry network.
- School of Biological Sciences – Centre for Molecular Dynamics (India and Nepal): Catalysing cross‐boundary collaborations to enhance action‐based conservation for addressing the impacts of changing environments on large wildlife in the Indian subcontinent.
- Centre for Policy Futures – Harvard University (USA), Essex University (UK), Toronto University (Canada), University of Winnipeg (Canada) and Queensland University of Technology: Leaving No One Behind: Achieving the right to health and global sustainability goals through transformative, cross-sectoral interventions.
- Human Movement & Nutrition Sciences – Technical University of Munich (Germany). Sport Science and Leadership.
- School of Social Sciences – Max Planck Institute (Germany): Tracing the Past: Exploring the potential for isotope research and zooms technology in Australasia.
- Centre for Health Service Research – University of Exeter Medical School (UK): Advanced modelling of dementia progression and evaluation.
- Business School – Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (Chile): Building and nurturing engagement and research collaborations with Catholic University of Chile (Business School).
- School of Education – Nanyang Technological University (Singapore): UQ-Nanyang Technological University Research Symposium: Transliteracy in Schools.
- Centre for Communication and Social Change – Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Indonesia): Designing transdisciplinary and inter-institutional research for rural development in Eastern Indonesia.
- Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology – Jilin University (China): Engaging with Jilin University - Joint Research Centre on Materials Chemistry.
This scheme has proven instrumental in supporting the efforts of UQ’s faculties and institutes to establish new and expanded linkages with strategic global partners.
The next round will continue in early 2019. The Global Engagement team will contact international and/or research teams prior to the opening of the next round to confirm designated contacts, communications, and submission procedures.
With the aim of supporting the successful implementation of the Global Strategy Framework, the UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme assists UQ faculties, institutes, and units to pursue activities that will strengthen the impact of UQ’s global network.
