#AustraliaAwards scholarships are valued for its unique characteristics: program quality and consistency of delivery, pastoral care and support for family. For father of two Nelson Sukwianomb, the choice was clear when he commenced his Scholarship at the The University of Queensland.
His family were coming too.
“I was drawn by the opportunity to be supported by the Australian Government to further my education as it is not easy to return to a schooling life after getting married and raising my children, so this opportunity allowed me to balance my personal responsibilities as a husband and parent to be able to fulfill my ambition for further studies,” he says.
Nelson’s sons and wife joined him in Australia, where he is currently studying a Master of Environmental Management and advocates for other parents to consider the powerful opportunity.
“I’d encourage those who are successful with being awardees and have a partner and/or children, to make it your business to bring them on this journey with you as it will be a worthwhile experience.”
