UQ's close relationship with the UK is strong bonds with government and industry, close collaboration on strategic research projects, and significant student mobility. The QUEX Institute of Global Sustainability and Wellbeing brings together researchers from UQ and the University of Exeter to address major global challenges. Other key areas of collaborative research include infrastructure, medicine and sustainability, with a focus on transforming the future for our communities.

Collaboration in action
- After a competitive selection process, 17 initiatives have been awarded funding totalling $217,174 for the second round of The University of Queensland (UQ) Global Partnerships Funding Scheme, launched in 2024.
- The University of Queensland’s capabilities in drug discovery and development are set to be strengthened by a new partnership between UniQuest and global biotech company Molecule to Medicine (MTM).
- The University of Queensland is proud to announce the launch of ‘Active Choices for Springfield,’ a groundbreaking 2-year project aimed at addressing the pressing health challenges faced by Australian Defence Force (ADF) veterans.
- A two–day symposium on 25–26 March funded by a QUEX Institute Workshop Grant discussed the performance pressures shared by sport, education and health professionals all over the globe.
- he University of Queensland’s re-engineered clamp platform has produced a vaccine that is equally safe and virus-neutralising as an approved vaccine considered among the best in its class.
- Following a competitive selection process, 5 outstanding initiatives have received funding totalling $47,000 in the latest UQ Global Strategy and Partnership Seed Funding Scheme.
