Building on a 30-year legacy of empowering global leaders through the Australia Awards Scholarship (AAS), The University of Queensland (UQ) was thrilled to welcome a significantly expanded cohort to the Introductory Academic Program (IAP) for Semester 1, 2025. 

Mongolia has a mineral-based economy with reserves of energy transition minerals critical for global decarbonisation efforts. At the same time, it is exposed to some of the planet’s worst climate change impacts and disaster risks, forcing a shift away from the traditional industry of pastoralism. Mongolia’s resources sector offers economic promise necessary to improve national development outcomes but, as a relatively young democracy, its capacity to harness the most value from its resource endowments needs further strengthening.

Recently The University of Queensland (UQ) was a major contributor to the “Key Technologies in Bioeconomy (KTB)” conference, an annual event initiated and organised by the Global Bioeconomy Alliance (GBA) and hosted this year by the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in Brazil.

The University of Queensland is proud to announce the launch of ‘Active Choices for Springfield,’ a groundbreaking 2-year project aimed at addressing the pressing health challenges faced by Australian Defence Force (ADF) veterans.

From March to July, The University of Queensland (UQ) delivered the Australia Awards Short Course to a group of women from Mongolia, chosen for their abilities to advance female participation in STEM industries. One of these women was neurointerventionalist surgeon Dr Ambaselmaa Bayarsaikhan whose life experience has already marked her as a role model and aspiring leader.

Two innovative projects have been awarded a total of US$20,000 in funding through the 2024 Emory-UQ Collaborative Partnership Research Grant. 

At the opening of the UQ-IITD Research Academy Annual Symposium 2024, The University of Queensland President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry AC and IIT Delhi Director Professor Rangan Banerjee highlighted the commitment of both UQ and IITD to knowledge creation and sharing for societal benefit. They emphasised a joint vision to create impact through the partnership between UQ, IITD and the broader India-Australia relationship, welcoming further collaboration with industry and government.
