Collaboration in action

  • UQ Bachelor of Environmental Management student Isabella Frew recently took part in the PEATLI Project, looking to restore peatlands by engaging local communities in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. This is her story.
  • Hard work, time management and taking every opportunity on offer was the key to success for Arts/Psychology Valedictorian Ayu Namira Paramecwari.

  • Isabelle talks about her experience as an intern at the United Nations Women Asia and the Pacific, and life as an exchange student in Indonesia.  
  • The big-eyed, long-tailed thresher shark has become rare in Indonesian waters, but a University of Queensland Australia Awards student is using funding from a conservation award to help protect them.
  • Hasto Budi Santoso reflects on his teaching practices. Hasto is an English teacher at SMPN 2 Tarakan, Kalimantan, Indonesia. He was recently invited by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Government of Indonesia, to participate in a fully customised professional development program for Indonesian teachers at The University of Queensland’s Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education in Brisbane, Australia.
  • University of Queensland researchers have partnered with institutes in Kenya, Indonesia and Vietnam to investigate the prevalence of mental disorders in adolescents.
