Collaboration in action
- Indian PhD researcher Mr Sudeep Banad will spend 2020 at The University of Queensland (UQ) to analyse the changing flood patterns and their impact on river morphology and explore new ways to predict flood paths.
- A dream to design and build social robots has taken student Anastasia Laczko around the world.
- A quick, cost-effective, cloud-based platform, which could solve one of fish farming’s biggest challenges, has received a US$100,000 grant for concept development and testing.
- Eleven collaborative research projects have been approved for $73,425 in funding in the second round of the 2018 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme. A total of 28 eligible applications were received for this round amounting to more than $220,000 in requested funding.
- A partnership between The University of Queensland and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) will pave the way for students and academics to address issues affecting India, Australia and global communities.
- University of Queensland Chancellor Mr Peter Varghese has called for education to be a ‘flagship sector’ as Australia seeks to lift trade and investment ties with India.

Indian students are the second-largest international cohort at UQ, with PhD studies, the Post Graduate Business, Bachelor of Engineering, among the most popular program choices.
The UQ Indian Student Club (UQISC) also supports Indian students and provides a platform to celebrate Indian culture with festivals, DJ and movie nights, Chai nights, games and social sports, educational workshops and Meet and Greets.
