Connected Futures – A UQ–UZH Symposium Showcasing Shared Goals, Global Impact, and Academic Exchange
The University of Queensland (UQ) and the University of Zurich (UZH) are proud to present the 2025 UQ–UZH Symposium, a two-day event designed to deepen academic collaboration and explore innovative approaches to global challenges. This year’s theme, Challenges and Opportunities for Social and System Change, reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing research that drives meaningful impact across disciplines and borders.
Held in Brisbane over two days from Tuesday, 7 October to Wednesday , 8 October 2025, the symposium will bring together leading researchers, early career scholars, and strategic partners to showcase collaborative initiatives and emerging themes in areas such as Healthy Ageing, Agriculture, Big Data/AI, Criminal Law, LGBTQ+ and Paediatrics. The program features keynote addresses, panel discussions, bilateral meetings, and a public lecture, all aimed at fostering dialogue, strengthening partnerships, and identifying new avenues for joint research.
This symposium builds on the success of previous UQ–UZH engagements and marks a significant step forward in the development of a strategic framework for long-term collaboration. Outcomes from the event will inform future engagement plans and contribute to a shared vision of academic excellence and global impact.
