Sports leadership
In the area of sports leadership, elite coaching and health sciences, The University of Queensland (UQ) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have established a highly successful collaboration focused on teaching and research.
Valuable mobility grants have supported joint teaching appointments in the field of sport and exercise psychology, sports coaching and human movement and nutrition. The inclusion of early career researchers and the exchange of research students has further developed collaboration in this unique and priority area. Expertise and industry engagement involving the Australian Football League (AFL) has also resulted in annual workshops with leading global collaborators. Australia, like Germany, is increasingly investing in high-performance sports technology innovation. The UQ-TUM partnership is well-positioned to leverage the national investment in sporting cooperation setting high-level direction and informing industry-based research to enhance the quality of experience for participants in youth and high-performance sport, including sports science and coaching.
