Collaboration in action
- In April, I was fortunate to be one of 16 UQ journalism students selected to take part in a study trip to Jakarta. This 10-day trip to Indonesia, funded by the Australian Government’s New Colombo Plan, aimed to give us an insight into the life of a foreign correspondent.
- The burgeoning relationship between The University of Queensland Business, Economics and Law Faculty and Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Economics and Business reached a major milestone this month when a delegation of UI executives visited St Lucia on the eve of the 10-year anniversary.
- Indonesian journalists have visited The University of Queensland to hear about a successful cattle fattening project in their nation’s east which is bringing significant economic benefits for smallholder cattle farmers.
- This summer, the TC Beirne School of Law took fifteen Bachelor of Laws students to study in Indonesia. The students embarked on a two-week trip to study Indonesia’s efforts at fighting corruption. Exploring issues of anti-corruption, integrity and corporate governance in Indonesia, the students mixed academic study with field-based learning.
- As a former national swimming champion and high-achieving student with an internship in a senator’s office already under this belt, Alex Williams exemplifies the title of ‘all-rounder’. The University of Queensland Bachelor of Arts/Laws student will add another impressive achievement to his CV this year, having recently arrived in Indonesia to begin a semester abroad at Universitas Indonesia (UI) under the New Colombo Plan Scholarship Program.
- Seven University of Queensland undergraduates will study in destinations around the Indo‑Pacific region after being named as 2017 Fellows and scholars under the New Colombo Plan.
