Biography
Mr Armando Alvarez Reina studied International Relations at the University National Autonomous, Mexico and completed a Masters in International Relations at Deakin University specialising in Pacific Studies as well as at the Higher Naval Navy Mexico where he obtained a Master’s degree. His professional experience commenced in the Foreign Ministry and Mexican Foreign Service as Analyst in the Directorate General of Cultural Affairs. Mr Reina joined the Mexican Foreign Service and progressed from Analyst in the Directorate General of Boundaries and International Rivers to Head of Department. After five years as Director General for the Asia Pacific, Mr Reina progressed to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to the Republic of Costa Rica.
He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and a Foreign Member (Natural Sciences Class) of The Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters.
