UQ has strong ties with the USA, including strategic partnerships with Emory University and Washington University in St Louis, and academic links with Harvard and Stanford. In addition, backing for key projects from leading companies and organisations like Boeing, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the US Department of Energy, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Dow Chemical Company is empowering UQ and our US partners to create change for an increasingly connected global community.

Collaboration in action

  • The University of Queensland’s reputation for global student exchange has helped attract 62 Australia Awards – Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships for 2018, the most of any university in Australia.
  • Eight collaborative research projects – ranging from chemical biotechnology, to health and archeological science – have been successful in the second round of the 2017 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme.
  • University of Queensland student Ryan Harris is heading to Capitol Hill in Washington for a two-month internship in the office of Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.
  • Leading research and development organisation Boeing Research and Technology Australia (BR&T–Australia) has moved its Brisbane-based team into a new centre at The University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus.
  • Five talented mooters from The University of Queensland came face to face with esteemed Nuremberg prosecutor Benjamin Ferencz during a trip of a lifetime to Washington D.C.
  • Ten collaborative research projects – ranging from bioengineering to the well being of refugees – have been successful in the first round of the 2017 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme.
