UQ in Indonesia and Vietnam

UQ has an office in Indonesia and a representative on the ground in Vietnam to foster engagement with universities, government agencies, corporate networks, and non-governmental organisations, and to support alumni and student recruitment in the region.

Collaboration in action

  • The University of Queensland and Newcrest Mining Limited have signed a partnership agreement that paves the way for long-term education, training and research activities.
  • International student and graduation valedictorian Yasmin Larasati has taken full advantage of the creative and cultural opportunities offered by university life in Brisbane.
  • The Improving Competitiveness in Tourism project is a capacity-building intervention designed to support regulatory review and reform, raise tourism and hospitality service and accommodation standards, and develop skills to support the inclusive growth of the tourism sector in the Philippines.
  • In January 2018, four University of Queensland law students embarked on a six-week international placement to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in Malaysian Borneo with Forever Sabah, a non-profit Malaysian organisation.
  • With support from a University of Queensland researcher, a Brisbane-based non-government organisation is using the power of sport to help Rohingya refugees living in Malaysia better integrate into their new home.
  • UQ’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences offer four week, interprofessional, intercultural placement (IPIC) opportunities in Vietnam and Timor-Leste to final year occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech pathology students.
