UQ in Indonesia and Vietnam
UQ has an office in Indonesia and a representative on the ground in Vietnam to foster engagement with universities, government agencies, corporate networks, and non-governmental organisations, and to support alumni and student recruitment in the region.
Collaboration in action
- The big-eyed, long-tailed thresher shark has become rare in Indonesian waters, but a University of Queensland Australia Awards student is using funding from a conservation award to help protect them.
- Hasto Budi Santoso reflects on his teaching practices. Hasto is an English teacher at SMPN 2 Tarakan, Kalimantan, Indonesia. He was recently invited by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Government of Indonesia, to participate in a fully customised professional development program for Indonesian teachers at The University of Queensland’s Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education in Brisbane, Australia.
- University of Queensland researchers have partnered with institutes in Kenya, Indonesia and Vietnam to investigate the prevalence of mental disorders in adolescents.
- Chloe Widmaier is in her first week at law firm Ashurst, and studying at night to finish this semester’s work. She’ll soon graduate with a Bachelor of Laws with a Diploma of Languages in Chinese.
- Eleven collaborative research projects have been approved for $73,425 in funding in the second round of the 2018 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme. A total of 28 eligible applications were received for this round amounting to more than $220,000 in requested funding.
- Fifty-eight upcoming researchers raced against the clock as they competed in the 2018 Asia-Pacific Three Minute Thesis (3MT) final at The University of Queensland this week.
