UQ in Indonesia and Vietnam
UQ has an office in Indonesia and a representative on the ground in Vietnam to foster engagement with universities, government agencies, corporate networks, and non-governmental organisations, and to support alumni and student recruitment in the region.
Collaboration in action
- UQ Master of Biotechnology alumnus Lucas Ngo Dee was one of eight students worldwide chosen as a Bioeconomy Youth Champion. Lucas was selected by the Global Bioeconomy Summit’s International Advisory Council from a field of more than 100 applicants to act as ambassadors for the bioeconomy.
- Nine collaborative projects have been approved for $85,384 in funding in the 2020 UQ Global Strategy and Partnerships Seed Funding Scheme.
- The urgency of reducing single-use plastic in global supply chains has been highlighted by a University of Queensland study in collaboration with the Indonesian Institute of Sciences.
- Pre-clinical testing of The University of Queensland’s COVID-19 vaccine has produced positive indications about its potential effectiveness and manufacturability.
- Australians who have tested positive to COVID-19 are being urged to participate in a global survey, to help scientists learn more about the virus’s severe impact on the sense of smell and taste.
- The next critical phase for The University of Queensland’s COVID-19 vaccine is underway – with the research effort moving out of the lab and into human trials.
