UQ in Indonesia and Vietnam
UQ has an office in Indonesia and a representative on the ground in Vietnam to foster engagement with universities, government agencies, corporate networks, and non-governmental organisations, and to support alumni and student recruitment in the region.
Collaboration in action
- Dr Anh Tran has a very personal reason to try and make life better for women and children living in refugee settings around the world – her parents were among the hundreds of thousands of refugees who escaped South Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975.
- Ventures, the entrepreneurship division of The University of Queensland (UQ), is partnering with the Vietnam Institute of Science Technology and Innovation (VISTI) to develop a collaborative centre in Hanoi, Vietnam.
- For the first time, researchers have revealed how a person’s genes can play a part in their enjoyment of nature, potentially changing the way we look at our affinity with the natural world.
- University of Queensland alumnus Dr Alue Dohong was awarded 2021 Australia Awards Indonesia alumnus of the year in a virtual presentation on 19 November 2021.
- As international borders slowly re-open, five University of Queensland undergraduate students are preparing to undertake global experiences after being announced as 2022 New Colombo Plan (NCP) scholars.
- MD-PhD candidate Rosie Stoke has won The University of Queensland’s 2021 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition and will go on to represent UQ in the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition next month.
